Following the announcement of the emergency declaration and new health order given by Governor Herbert and the Utah State Health Department, the UHSAA has suspended all activities through at least NOV 23, 2020.
An exception for the possible conclusion of the football playoffs was included in the announcement and more information will be provided as soon as it is available.
All other activities, including in-season practices and any off-season workouts and conditioning sessions will not begin again until at least NOV 24th. Basketball tryouts scheduled for NOV 9th have been postponed (more info to come).
As an athletic department, we encourage student-athletes and coaches, as well as their families to be leaders and examples to others in following the new order that includes limiting casual interactions to those in your immediate family or household, wearing a mask (now a statewide mandate) and maintaining physical distancing while not at home. By contributing to the efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus, we will help save lives and support the efforts of our medical workers and hospital personnel. Additionally, we hope that we will see a significant enough improvement that we will be able to more safely return to winter sports.
More information from the UHSAA (uhsaa.org), SLCSD and the EAST administration and athletic department (easthighleopards.com) will be posted as it becomes available.
Stay safe!!! | GoEAST!!!
* Dates have been updated to reflect correct information. The health order goes through NOV 23rd, so the earliest activities might return is NOV 24th.
